Frequently asked questions

Fifteen questions we are asked most often, answered without hedging. If yours is not here, call or write and you will get a straight answer from a consultant.

What exactly does HPS Holding do?

We are an independent sourcing and supply-chain services firm. In practice that means four things: analysing what you buy, running competitive supplier processes, coordinating the freight that brings goods in, and rebuilding the inventory rules that decide how much you hold.

Are you a broker, a 3PL or a reseller?

None of those. We never take title to goods, never hold inventory and never resell freight capacity. We are paid consulting fees by clients only.

Do you accept commission or rebates from suppliers?

No, and this is contractual. Our engagement letter contains an explicit representation that we receive no payment of any kind from any supplier involved in a client process.

How much does an engagement cost?

The two-week diagnostic is a fixed fee, quoted after the discovery call and typically in the low five figures depending on data complexity and number of sites. Project and retained work is quoted in writing before any work begins. We do not invoice for anything that was not agreed in advance.

What is the minimum size of client you work with?

Roughly $4M of addressable annual spend. Below that our fees rarely pay for themselves and we will say so on the first call.

How quickly can you start?

Discovery calls are usually available within three business days. Diagnostics typically start two to four weeks after a signed engagement letter, depending on the calendar.

What do you need from us to begin?

A purchase history export (12–24 months), your chart of accounts, your current supplier list, copies of major contracts, and about six hours of stakeholder interview time spread over two weeks.

Who will actually work on our account?

A named engagement lead and one or two consultants, all of whom you meet before signing. We do not substitute people mid-engagement without your agreement in writing.

Will you replace our purchasing team?

Almost never. We work alongside your buyers and hand processes back to them. Some clients use us for interim cover during a vacancy, which is scoped separately.

How is our data protected?

Data is transferred over encrypted channels, stored encrypted at rest on US-based infrastructure, accessible only to the consultants assigned to your account, and returned or destroyed within 60 days of engagement close. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, mutual NDAs as standard, before any data is exchanged. We are also comfortable working under your own paper.

Do you work outside the United States?

Our clients are US-based. We regularly source from international suppliers on their behalf, including Mexico, Canada, the EU and East Asia, and we coordinate the customs documentation that goes with it.

Can you help if we already have a GPO or a consultant?

Yes. A common engagement is an independent review of what an existing GPO agreement or incumbent programme actually delivers against what it promised.

What happens at the end of an engagement?

You receive a handover pack: playbooks, templates, the savings ledger, the supplier files and training for your team. We plan the exit from the first week.

How do we contact you?

Call +1 (718) 462-8415 during Eastern business hours, email contact@su.hpsholding.com, or use the form on our contact page. Written enquiries are answered within two business days.
